Our First Day at Sea

We arrived in Ft. Lauderdale on Thursday morning after  a nice flight on Southwest airlines.  The hotel had a room ready for us and we got checked in right away.  Thursday night we had a great dinner in a restaurant run by a Greek gentleman.  Good food and good conversation   His home is one of the islands we will be visiting on this journey so he shared a lot of good info with us.
Friday we spent part of the day out at the pool and had lunch on the Lanai.  Friday evening we met 9 other people that we will be on the cruise and had drinks and went out for supper.  Lots of great travel stories shared by all/
Saturday we had breakfast at the hotel and departed for the Crown Princess around 11:00AM.  The check in went very quickly and we were in our stateroom by 12:00.  After dropping off our carry on luggage, we went down to the Michelangelo dining room for lunch.  A couple from Toronto were sitting next to us and during the conversation they asked if we were Capt. & Teach, our Cruise Critic handle.  We said yes and they told us they had been following our blogs but had not participated in them.  Guess we are famous.

We unpacked after lunch and then went to the safety muster and then to the sail away party.  We watched the Oasis of the Sea, the world's largest cruise ship, sail out ahead of us.  It can carry 5,200 passengers and a crew  of over 3500.  Capt. Nash called it the "Monstrosity of the Sea."

I have to close for now more coming today.
