Sorry about the color of the last blog. Forgot to do something in my hurry to leave for a meeting. I also have had downloading this blog. Hope it works this time.
We had dinner in the Botticelli dining room last night. We are at a table for 8 and have interesting seat mates who have traveled all over the world. After dinner we decided to just return to our cabin and relax for the evening. That didn't happen!!!!
We were both tired and were in bed by 10:00 PM and just about asleep when the General Quarters alarm bells were sounded and Capt. Nash came on and announced that someone had been reported overboard. We were located about 95 miles east of Ft. Lauderdale when the alarm was sounded. The Capt. ordered everyone to their state rooms. A muster was begun by the crew to determine if anyone was missing.
We turned around and returned to the area of the report. The Capt. had to make a second announcement for passengers to return to their staterooms. (IDIOTS) The people with cabins having balconies were asked to keep a lookout for anyone in the water. 30 minutes after the initial report we were in the area of the reported person overboard and just drifting with the current as would anyone overboard. Rescue craft were lowered into the water to help with the search. The Coast Guard was notified and they requested other ships to look for a person in the water near our location. At that moment we were still drifting as the search continued.
An hour and 20 minutes after the search started it was determined that everyone was on board. I think they did a very efficient job to account for 3,000 passengers and 1500 crew members in that short a time. We then continued are cruse toward Europe. We hope to find out the "real story" tomorrow. So another adventure begins
